“Helplessness and isolation are the core experiences of psychological trauma. Empowerment and reconnection are the core experiences of recovery.”

Meet Megan Jones, LCSW

She/Her

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in the mental health field and close to 10 years experience as a therapist. I graduated with my Master of Social Work from Boston University, where I also earned a Certificate in the Treatment of Trauma, making trauma-informed therapy foundational to my approach.

I view my work as a partnership with the people I serve, and I draw from trauma-informed therapies including:

  • Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a somatic approach

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)

Learn more about these approaches on my FAQ Page.

As a therapist, I strive to center your autonomy and sense of safety, and I hope to foster a deep sense of mindfulness, self-awareness, curiosity, and self-compassion. To that end, my style is affirming, reflective, thoughtful, and engaging. Call me or email me to see if we would be a good fit!

My Background

I entered the mental health field while working as a case manager for families in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. There I witnessed first-hand the impact of trauma on individuals, families, and communities, and I decided I would pursue graduate education in mental health. I sought out programs centered around trauma recovery and social justice, and that brought me to Boston University’s School of Social Work, unique in that its graduate program offered a trauma-specialization alongside it’s long history of social justice work.

In my career as a therapist, I have worked as a clinician on a community treatment team serving folks with serious mental health struggles, provided therapy for women in in-patient recovery from substance use, and managed an outpatient mental health and substance use program. I have lead therapy groups, supervised and trained staff in trauma-informed care, and established therapeutic relationships that cultivate safety, healing, and empowerment in the people I serve. Throughout all of this, I sought out further training in trauma-informed approaches, building on my graduate education in trauma and enhancing my skills as a trauma specialist.

Following a move with my family from the Bay Area in California to the suburbs of New Jersey, I established my own private practice, centered on using my expertise and experience to continue providing quality therapy to those who seek healing.
